Small Scale

Small Scale is a series of 30 x 30 cm studies on wood.

These works began as a place to experiment with ink, paint, surface, and material. Over time, a language emerged.

Red, black, and gold repeat across the panels. So does the single red circle.

Stripped of the photographed body found in Exposure and Intimate Studies, the circle has to carry the figure alone. It can suggest presence, vulnerability, isolation, a wound, an opening, or simply the fact of being there.

The small format keeps the encounter close.

These are studies, but they are also a record of a visual language that stands on its own.
