Poses Project

Sneak Peek of my new project:

Inspired by the photography of George Platt Lynes ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Platt_Lynes ), a mid-century photographer whose homoerotic work has recently been published, I am working with live models to create a new project titled "Poses" which will explore the use of positive and negative in abstract male forms. The project recreates five poses from Lynes work in which each model is photographed. The end result will be a series of different models in identical poses that explore how shadow alters the perception of the human body. I've completed ink washes for the first model "A" and am working on photographing additional models. The end result will be a total of 25 paintings that share a compositional framework, but also represent the individual nature of the subjects.
